The decision to live full time in an RV was a process, a two year process. The idea first came up about the same time I left church to pursue God (unconventional, I know). As I began a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, I experienced a freedom that I'd never experienced before. So...liberating, exhilarating, so refreshing. Free from fear of falling short, free from doctrinal differences, free from perceived inconsistencies...and finally, the feeling of being saved! It was this taste of freedom and hope that made me realize how encumbered my life was. So the decision to full-time, which has been in the back of my mind since it first came up, which I've tried to put to rest repeatedly, has been fully embraced.
What is it about full-timing that has grabbed a hold of my heart and won't let go? FREEDOM! Freedom from societal expectations, from the routine, from material possessions. The freedom to live more simply, spend more quality time with family, explore the beauty of God's amazing creation and catch glimpses of Eden. Full-time RVing resonates in my heart because it's the closest I can get to God this side of Heaven.
This is definitely a path less traveled, but my life has been full of them. Having made my own way and trekked my own path has had an incredible impact on my life. Those journeys began as a tug of war between my desire to support my free-spirited husband and a fear of leaving my comfort zone. I don't easily embrace change, it's more like warming to an idea (through MUCH prayer), so trailblazing with Kyle has helped me broaden my horizons, think outside the box, trust God and my husband like my life depended on it, and embrace the adventure - including the ups and downs that come with it. I have my own ideas about life, how to live it, and what defines success; none of which are conventional. Luckily, God provided the perfect husband for me. Kyle and our beautiful, spirited, and loving daughter Kylee have helped me grow and mature, have helped me challenge and refine my thinking, through it all sharing everything this life has to offer - the good, the bad, and the ugly - and soon, the breathtakingly beautiful.
